Money Shame Is Real

Many business owners have money shame. It’s something that is real, people have issues with cash for a number of different reasons. These range from simply not understand the numbers to not seeing the reality of those numbers and what effect they are having on the business. It is possible to move forward from money shame and get a handle on those figures. One of the first steps is talking to an actual bookkeeper.

Many people who run businesses are creative. They might not see the numbers on the page as anything but symbols they can’t fathom. There is no real creativity in finance, it’s very black and white. What it says, is what it is. Working with a bookkeeper who understands the processes is key.

Some people don’t have a healthy relationship with money. They may not have be brought up to understand it or simply find it too confusing. There is no shame in this and you must understand that. Moving forward with this, equipping yourself with the knowledge and support network will only make things better. Ignoring it will do nothing but have a detrimental effect on your business and your wellbeing.

Bookkeepers can show you the reality of the business you’re running. What you’re shelling out money for. How much cash is coming in through your revenue streams. They also have a lot of experience working with a variety of different businesses, so can use this knowledge to recommend what you should be doing, where you should be cutting back and areas where you should be investing more time and effort.

Bookkeepers aren’t here to pile on the shame or make it worse either. Whilst you might get emotional about the state of your figures, having someone help you work through them and understand them is critical. It can help you move past money shame and start concentrating and taking control of things moving forward. There’s nothing you can do about the past so let’s focus on the future, your future. Please get in touch if you need any bookkeeping help.
